Hill Top near Sawery, Hawkshead
A delightful 17th century farm house were Beatrix Potter wrote many of her children’s stories and were many of her beautiful treasures are on display.Beatrix Potter left Hill Top to the trust on her death on the understanding that it remained as it was when she was alive.
Holker Hall Gardens and Lakeland Motor Museum
Home to Lord and Lady Cavendish, the hall dates back to the early 16th century. One of the country’s best loved stately homes Holker offers 125 acres of ward winning gardens, courtyard café, Cumbrain food hall, and picnic area and adventure playground.

Dove Cottage and Wordsworth Museum Grasmere
Home to the romantic poet William Wordsworth and his family and it here that many of his famous poems were written. The Wordsworth Trust was founded in 1891 to secure Dove Cottage. The trustees have built an award wining museum, opened in 1981, which together with the Wordsworth library houses one of the greatest collections of manuscripts, books and paintings relating to British romanticism.

Levens Hall and Topiary Gardens
Originally a medieval Pele tower built by the Redman family of Redmayne. The tower was then incorporated into the main building in 1590 to provide a gentleman’s residence. The gardens and topiary are world famous and are well worth a visit while in the English Lake District.
