Dear Westmorland Friends
Due to the government’s announcement on the 20th March and the speed of the COVID-19 virus escalating we have taken the difficult decision to close the hotel on Sunday the 22nd March 2020.
This decision has been driven by our social responsibility to protect our team, our guests and the Lake District from what is an ongoing challenging situation. Our Reception team have contacted all imminent bookings that are due to arrive at the hotel. Our team will be contacting all guests who have a reservation up to the 10th of May but as you can imagine this may take a little time.
We are deeply saddened how quickly things have moved and that has led us to make this decision and we are doing everything we can to make sure we can re-open as soon as possible once this is all over. Obviously we do not know exactly when this will be and will update you as soon as we can. Looking ahead we have implemented a rolling weekly review on other future bookings from the 10th of May onwards.

We hope to keep busy in the hotel with a spot refurbishment It’s going to be a challenging time for us all. However we are a tight knit team here at the ‘Sally’ and with patience, friendship and compassion and generally looking after each other we will come through the other side of this to welcome new and returning guests back to the hotel.
Ambleside and the Lake District always has and always will be a unique place to visit and will continue to hold a special place in all our hearts. With this in mind we thank you for your support over the past 33 years and send our very best wishes to you all.
